pink sky at night

kimono: miss selfridge, top: a gift, necklace: h&m, leggings: internacionale, dr martens, waxed parka: primark, scarf: topshop (old)

it's been so cold in epsom lately and not happy about it all all. i love a good load of layering, but for fashion's sake not warmth! hahaa. also, you wouldnt think that my hair was straight when i left my house for uni this morning would you? damn rain...

major print clashing went on today, velvet florals and snake print. then i kept the rest simple with black and neutral colouring. i love my kimono.

film 09

tree of life (2011)

a beautifully composed and shot film by terrence malick - starring brad pitt, sean penn and jessica chastain. however, my favourite actor was young jack, played by hunter mccracken.. he was brilliantly raw. i've never seen imagery so fascinating in a film before, there were randomly interspersed scenes of historical, evolutional and intergalactic happenings ... that were shown right along side a small family with three young sons set in texas. things so huge and things so small, all at the same time. the comparisons and juxtaposition of the two was so intense.

twilight, breaking dawn part two (2012)

okay, i am a twilighter at heart. the last movie seemed the most cheesy of the four. it also felt a bit rushed, but regardless of that it was an amazing finale. i like the twist they took on the film, leaving the happenings in the book slightly different (but i wont spoil it for anyone!) they made it truly cinematic and i was literally cowering and distraught in my seat. the ending was rounded off fantastically, so emotional! sighhhhhh - sad as it may be, i'm still on the hunt for my edward.. or jacob! i'll always be 'team jake/ward'.

the watch (2012)

warning!!! .. don't do what i did, and take you're grandma to see this film with you, it's not at all appropriate. i don't think i've ever sunk so far down in my cinema chair. some scenes are very rude and they definitely took me by suprise! however, it's a good film for a pick me up or a good old belly laugh. great cast too, i love richard ayoade.

lost highway (1997)

i have decided i don't particularly like the majority of david lynch films, they're not for the faint hearted and are frankly, a bit too disturbing for me. this was no exception. they're seems to be no reason for random and drastic switches of narrative, whenever i watch them... nothing really makes sense. i honestly don't think lynch himself knows exactly what he wants to portray in the majority of his thriller style movies. he's just out to upset, scare and unnerve people - he's bold, i'll give him that.

katy perry 'part of me'
(2012)

i didn't think this documentary style film would be as emotional as it was, it shows a different side to popstars and the lengths they push themselves too, to please and give back to their fans.

these posts contain a list and short bio of 5 films that i've most recently viewed. they include films that have been on my 'to watch' list for years, have been recommended to me, have been recently released or are on the list of films for my university project! i try not to include spoilers in my descriptions - just a brief synopsis, the genre and my general opinion.

exhibition | tim walker 'story teller' at somerset house

i was really naughty and sneaked in some pictures from the exhibition, it's horrible when you're not allowed cause the exhibitions i love.. i want to document and share on my blog and in my university sketchbooks. anyway, here are a few hastily taken shots i gathered as i walked around the exhibit in somerset house.... interspersed with some tim walker photographs featured, but gathered online for you.

the white swan room was my favourite room, the prints on the walls were plucked from loads of different tim walker editorials, photoshoots and projects but were placed and arranged together beautifully. it shows the walker style to perfection, using similar colour schemes, themes and moods.

there was also a small screening room, running six short films on loop. they showed behind the scenes footage at tim walker shoots and small fashion stories.

there were also an amalgamation of props that featured in the photographs. smoking hats, giant skeletons, dolls and bumble bees. swan boats and giant snails crawling the walls.

window shopping at it's finest

rather than purchasing any of the above, i just lusted from afar. well, quite close up actually - to take detailed pictures in remembrance just in case i stumble across a pot of gold somewhere. i really wish this post was a 'recent buys' post, but sadly not!

i'm particularly fascinated with statement ankle boots at the minute, i'd love a velvet pair.. especially the blue velvet ones.

i'll just have to hang on for the moment or try to find a cheaper alternative cause the cheapest pair of boots above are still £70! what a nightmare.

p.s - how amazing are the lucite heeled bershka sandals at the top? if they ever make those beauties in black i don't think i could cope without them.
