dicaprio mad

hay everyone. hope you're all well. i'm currently re-obsessed with leonardo dicaprio again, after going to see the great gatsby yesterday. i've never read the book, or seen the first movie and it had never been spoilt for me, i was completely unaware of the story. i went in with totally fresh eyes and have fell in love with the story, now i wish i'd read the book first and i do this every time!

the film is outlandish, decadent and completely over the top, kind of encapsulating the 20's era really. the sound track was overwhelming in places but totally amazing and submersive, even if it is ridiculously modern, with the likes of beyonce, will-i-am and lana del rey. to the critic who are complaining that the score is too modern, i say pipe down. the film wasn't intended to be remade as if it was the twenties style of cinema, it's a modern remake with modern cameras, lighting and effects - so why is the music not allowed?

reinspired by leonardo dicaprio and his amazing acting (STILL NO OSCAR?!) i watched shutter island for the first time today and have definitely found a new favourite film. i cant quite believe i've gone this long before watching it, especially with my love for a good brainteaser or leonardo movie... inception and romeo & juliet baz luhrmann style - to name a few. it was bloody brilliant and i'm watching it again tomorrow.

lazy oaf for nasty gal - collection launch

on tuesday myself, charlie and sarah headed up to ganton street in central london for the launch party of the lazy oaf and nasty gal collaboration collection at the lazy oaf flagship store. it was a flurry of pattern, print and colour, then infusing statement nasty gal shapes and styles with and lazy oaf humour and print.

my personal favourites were the watermelon backpack, rainbow crop t-shirt and black flower waist cut out dress. we received free lzy oaf magazines, newspapers, gin and ice cream - so all in all a good night even if we didn't win the £200 clothes tombola! we chatted to store manager, charlie tried on the collection, we listened to the DJ's and watched the gorgeous lookbook video projected downstairs surrounded by giant pizza slice cushions.
