double denim
denim jacket: old primark, denim shirt: h&m, leggings: h&m, converse: office, necklaces: vivienne westwood, tiffany&co & accessorize, ring: debenhams.
i also did a spot of charity shopping in a new little place in the town next to mine, and i love it! i tried on so much stuff, i can tell i'm going to be there all the time! i bought the jumper and the spotted shirt.
i absolutely adored the khaki shirt but it was too big for me, i'm now on a mission for another one in a charity shop. topshop and various places have military style shirts/jackets in lately, and they cost a fortune, there's no way i'll pay that when a perfectly good version or real deal may be lurking in a vintage/charity shop near you!

a girl can dream
all topshop i think.
I WISH MY WARDROBE OWNED ALL OF THESE PIECES. it's a shame that currently i am the most broke i've ever been. no money for clothes, not even enough money for my week in mallorca that commences on tuesday (exciting!) may have to bash the overdraft severely until september brings on my beautiful student loan.
anyone holidaying anywhere nice?

photobomb from my week in cornwall
leaving durham station at some very early godforsaken hour, to travel 400 miles to the other end of the country.
good job it was the pretty train journey ever, the views were beautiful and it just got prettier the closer i got to cornwall.
going for drives to places arounds kirsty's town, and having a few drinks in my new favourite pub.
for a day we drove to the pretty little place called looe, chilled on the beach with ice creams and looked around the quaint little shops, and obviously had come true cornish pasties.
sunbathing in kirsty's back garden with a few cans of rekorderlig.
after a beautiful bbq prepared by kirsty's mam and stepdad, where we met a lot of kirsty's friends from home. we went for the funniest drive, me and sophia in the boot of the car cause there were too many of us! hahaha.
me and katie jumped over a huge reservoir/lake/quarry like thing on a long zip wire. it was really fun, i thought i was going to get bashed on the head by a massive seagull on the way.
back to the barley for one too many snakebites.
house parties and new born puppies.
days out in newquay and visits to polperro festivals.
our last night was an 2pm - late fundraiser gig, the bands that i heard where really good.
so here's a million pictures from my week in cornwall staying with my best friend from university. my two other favourite university girls came down too, so it was destined to be the best week! we did so much and i didn't want to come home by the end of it. i'd never been to cornwall before so kirsty made sure i got my week's worth.

film 06
snow white and the huntsman (2012)
me and my friend went to see this after another film was sold out, and i'm so so glad that it was!
this rendition of snow white exceeded my expectations of the fairytale, even with kirsten stewart as snow white herself (i'm not a huge fan of her acting). for me, kirsten played snow white just as she should be, innocent, captivating with just a hint of sensuality for her 'true love'. charlize theron as ravenna was stunningly fierce and very piercing, colleen atwood's costumes for her were unbelieveably detailed and full of texture. finally, the cinematography was absolutely beautiful, i can't applaud greig fraser enough - the lens flares from the sunlight, the shallow focus on the flowers and the shot compositions were amazing.
rashômon (1950)
a film from my list in my university project, i chose this one for the fact that it's 62 years old and japanese. it's a suspense/crime film recalling a murder and it's aftermath from different points of view of the people involved. i like how the recollections from each witness seem to correlate at the beginning, but end up contradicting each other in the end. there's a few twists and turns along the way, with the help of a medium relaying the murder victims side of the story, which was a little eerie. the film has a good plot and you can't help feeling it's packed with morals and opinion from director akira kurosawa.
burn after reading (2008)
what a strange film, to me it all kind of had no point. i mean, i'm sure there is a meaning or some morals in there somewhere but it was all very ironic, laughable and seeming pointless. the storyline is a strange intermingling of people from huge CIA agents to childrens book writers and people who work in a gym. i must admit, brad pitt's portrayal of the character 'chad' was hilarious.
what to expect when you're expecting (2012)
a decent film, i wish we saw more of thomas lennon though that man is amazing. it's a different take on any other film about babies i've seen. in some ways it's really raw and real in places, but totally ridiculous and typically 'hollywood'. it made me terrified to ever get pregnant but also want kids, how strange!!
one day (2011)
not having read the book before the film - (i always seem to do this and it annoys me!) i thought the film was pretty good, i cried.. and i have a decent cry threshold when it comes to movies. i'm not sure about the book, but the film is a generic 'love' story between the two. i dont mind anne hathaway's dodgey-at-times british accent. i thought jim sturgess's performance was very moving and believeable. i'm definitely going to read the book now.. and imagine my own dexter and emma.

these posts contain a list and short bio of 5 films that i've most recently viewed. they include films that have been on my 'to watch' list for years, have been recommended to me, have been recently released or are on the list of films for my university project! i try not to include spoilers in my descriptions - just a brief synopsis, the genre and my general opinion. |

we got one eye watching you
happy dad's day, father dearest!!!! it's also my friend melissa's birthday - so happy birthday knuckle head :):) x
dress: tk maxx, jacket: primark, shoes: dr martens, necklace: topshop, earrings: really old from primark (rip!), rings: h&m
striped nails: 'eyes of steel' by topshop and model's own 'wah nails' pen in black.
today consists of dinner with dad, packing because i head off to cornwall tomorrow (eeeeekkk!!!), a trip to pick up my contact lenses and a few hours out celebrating with my friends!
i wore this outfit when i went shopping with sophie and katie the other day. we messed around trying ridiculous hats on in primark, had nando's and spend far too much money in a new american sweet shop!
p.s. i loveeee my new rings, i've wanted some minimalist band rings for ages, but cheap - i sadly cant afford the beautiful maison martin margiela rings.. ever! haha so i found this set of three in h&m the other day. in love.
