leeds festival on sunday

if only i could have afforded the full weekend! leeds fest on sunday was one of the best nights of my life. it was so so soooo amazing. i saw sooo many bands and artists all of which pulled out unbelievable sets. okay so the list goes... kasabian, florence & the machine, the vaccines, mystery jets, miike snow, grimes, santigold, OFWGKTA, blood red shoes, los campesinos! - and i think that's the lot.

i am definitely festival going all next summer.... glasto, leeds, V, kendall calling, wilderness and vintage are on the must visit list for sure.

lazy oaf dress, that wasn't meant to be...

im rather sad that this dress had to go back to lazy oaf.. it was way to big for me. i bought it on a whim and i couldn't really afford it anyway. i took a few snaps as i tried it on though.. just for blogging's sake!

i love the lazy oaf brand and aesthetic - it's quirky, bold and a little bit cheesy! when i head back to london in a fortnight i'll definitely be heading to carnaby street again for a browse in the shop! the packaging was so cute aswell.. with little bones, lazy oaf stickers and goggly eyes all over the place.

the dress itself is a dropped waist tunic with a pleated skirt, with pockets! it's such a shame i didn't order the S/M first time round because i think i would have kept it. however, i don't want to pay for postage and packaging twice because i'm stingy.

silver cuff: h&m, leopard print belt: new look

nails: rose pink UV gel polish & models own nail art pen in 'black' for the polka dots, rings: sterling silver by debenhams & a gift from athens.

my spotted nails were a happy coincidence, as i got a bit sick of the same pink nails and i had no acetone to soak off the gel polish, so i made them more jazzy with some black polka dots!

i'm so excited to be heading off to leeds festival in the morning for the full sunday there! no doubt there will be lots of pictures to come!

film 08

the dark knight rises (2012)

as there always is, there was such a gripping narrative to this batman movie. i'm not going to spoil anything, but i predict most of you have already seen it. i thought anne hathaway played a really good rendition of catwoman and marion cotillard portrayed miranda tate amazingly well. it has the perfect amount of action, lots - and i love bane. my only downside was that a lot of what bane said was really hard to make out because of the voice effects and 'the mask' i guess.

the women (2008)

i must admit it's not the best film in the world. the best thing about it was meg ryan's curly hair, which has made me now want a perm. it's slow paced and frankly, a bit boring at the beginning - but i persevered because i can't turn a film off once i've started watching it. it has such a predictable ending and i can't imagine a single man wanting to watch it, especially with it's all girl cast. personally not a thrilling film for me but its a generally uplifting chick flick if you wanna watch it.

ted (2012)

after being in a bad mood upon entering the cinema to see this film, i sure came out totally cheered up! ted was really funny, stupid in places.. but really funny. the whole screen room was laughing all the way through, ted himself is adorable and you definitely want to dig out your teddy bear by the end. don't be softened because its about a teddybear - it's not a film for kids. so don't sneak your kid brothers/sisters or children in to see it, its rated 15 for a reason. ted is a very witty, lovable character but he's completely sex mad, vulgar and slightly racist!

wings of desire (1987)

wings of desire was a good concept and is packed with values and morals. the film itself is really slow to watch and takes ages to get the ball rolling. i thought the costume design of the circus performers, in particular the lead female role was beautifully done. bruno ganz fitted the lead angel really well, he has a very expressive face. i found the angel/human concept pretty eerie and not how i would usually like to think of angels - i this was done on purpose to challenge the usual conventions of how people imagine/perceive angels to be.

taken (2008)

after the last five years of 'taken' hype - i finally managed to watch it and i must admit.. i totally get why this film is loved by so many people. you are totally gripped from about 20 minutes in. i love that the film isn't too graphic - because it could have been done in a really insensitive way. yet luc besson still manages to keep the issues and events of the film really raw for both the characters and the audience watching, by leaving the very brutal, harrowing events to the imagination.

these posts contain a list and short bio of 5 films that i've most recently viewed. they include films that have been on my 'to watch' list for years, have been recommended to me, have been recently released or are on the list of films for my university project! i try not to include spoilers in my descriptions - just a brief synopsis, the genre and my general opinion.

it won't be too long

top: topshop, shorts: DIY via tk maxx, boots: dorothy perkins, necklace: topshop, rucksack: asda.

quick outfit post for a day out yesterday, window shopping and then the cinema with dad and my new rucksack - it was £5... yes a fiver! i spotted the beauty in the little boys 'back to school' section of asda - its amazing! so far, i've found that it's the perfect size and seems really robust and sturdy. it's a definite contender for my leeds festival bag.

i'm also obsessed with my birthday necklace. i ended up getting two! one from my brother and one from my friends. i've taken one back (i mixed them up so i didn't know which i was keeping, to keep both parties happy, hah!) it just goes with everything and has everything i would ever look for in a necklace. silver and gold, spikes and purple crystals.

my superga's

i think i'm actually in love with my new trainers? i dont even want to take them off in the house or anything. superga is an italian brand founded in 1911 and is now owned by steve madden. 2011 saw mary kate & ashley oslen become creative directors of the brand, and british model alexa chung has starred in several advertising campaigns too. one of my favourite quirky british designers - henry holland - recently collaborated with superga to create his own line colourful line of the classic shoe.

i want a pair in every colour and pattern - i can't help it. above are a few snaps i rounded up of superga's on a whole host of a-listers with style. lana del rey, mary kate olsen, nicola roberts, alexa chung, fearne cotton and sienna miller. below is a whole heap of superga hype.

shoes

here are three pairs of beautiful new heels that i've acquired over the past few months. the black perspex block heels are from river island, the mauve minimal sandals are by zara and finally the pink suede court shoes are from head over heels by dune.

the black river island shoes are insanely comfortable, i've worn them twice now and i'm in love with them. the same goes for the zara sandals, they are the perfect colour and literally go with everything.

however, this can't be said for my pink shoes. after one night out in mallorca, they have well and truly killed my feet and i can't see me wearing them again - which is really sad. i'm still trying to fix my poorly toes over a month later! not good haha.
