DIY: floral garland headbands

okay, so my friend abby and i hit dainty toys (this big arts, crafts and textiles supply shop/huge haberdashery) this morning in search of a few bit and bobs. abby wanted different coloured ribbons for some sandals she's got and i went for some lace - but i'll save that for a future DIY i have in mind.

we spotted a whole aisle of cute little wired flowers in the wedding section, presumably for wedding decorations, wedding hair styles etc. first thing we both though was.. these would make amazing little head garlands inspired by things like this and this.

so i bought this tiny little bunch of deep pink roses on wire stems to start small.

step 01. i took two roses, i overlapped about 2cm of the wire from the end of a stem with the head of the other rose, like photo 1.
step 02. i then twisted the stem overlap around the head of the second rose as many times as possible.
step 03. i then bent the wire so that the blunt end shown in photo 2 was curled into the stem and a lot more discrete.
step 04. i repeated the process using 9 roses, as this was the amount of wire that fit my head perfectly. so the amoount you use is entirely up to your preference. continue until you have the length desired then twist the last stems together - and voila!

i am so so happy with the final outcome, i'm going back for more flowers.. bigger ones, different flowers altogether - it's pretty fun to do. go seek out your nearest haberdashery!

i also had a few left, so i experimented a little further! they stick into your hair really well so even just dotting a few in the side to pin back sections of your hair works really well!

i bought these daisy ones too, for like 50p. can't wait to try it out with these too!
