on saturday i visited the bowes museum to view the spectacle that was the vivienne westwood: shoes exhibition. i still can't get over the fact that it was literally exhibited about 40 minutes away from my home town! a major fashion exhibition of that status could have been anywhere in the world first, but it was in county durham! i first heard about it showing at bowes on vogue.com here, and had to go. i do apologise, this post is a little photo heavy - but there was so much to see!
but before we get into the exhibition properly, here's a few photographs of the building itself.. the bowes museum itself is so impressive and so beautiful...
right, now back to the shoes! firstly, i had to snap a picture of the infamous 'super elevated gillie' heels that caused naomi campbell to fall on the runway in 1993! ...a huge print of the naomi fall hung on the wall above the 'pirate' collection shoes.
now some more of viv's weird and wonderful creations, and some of my personal favourites!
finally, here's a few pictures of me in awe in the exhibition area.
and here's an absolutely awful quality outfit post! my camera had died by this point, so blackberry picture it is! my mam's photography doesn't help either haha, she's useless bless her!
shirt: new look
leather shorts: henry holland
patent loafers: new look
snake skin bag: possibly george at asda?
p.s. i know my pictures are horrific, you weren't supposed to take pictures so they were all a bit rushed. i did find an amazing blog post on the exhibition from a girl who attended the press day and was allowed her camera! here's the link at thepinkbow.net (first image of this post is also by thepinkbow.net)
