a certain iridescence

this is a transitional winter to spring fashion editorial i shot with jina from leni's models last week. the concept was light refraction, and how it can create rainbow-like colours. i wanted to convey it through the styling, using black, grey and white garments outside in the sunlight, in a studio i built myself. the refraction part comes from the holographic flashes in accessories and clothes throughout the shoot, as if they are brought to life from the sunlight we shot in.

going more into the light refraction concept, i added smoke to certain images - remember old movies where you'd see someone start a fire with a magnifying glass as if focuses sunlight to create heat? i wanted the natural daylight and holographic elements to appear to be starting to catch fire - heating up.

i love the way it turned out, jina was perfect for the shoot and i was pleased with how my concept pulled together. hair, make up, photography and styling was all done by myself.
