exhibition | juergen teller: woo! exhibition & talk
a few weeks ago i attended the 'juergen teller in conversation with bice curiger' talk at the institute of contemporary arts in celebration of the Woo! exhibition celebrating juergens personal and commercial work spanning years and years.
i learnt so much duruing the talk, i love how open and honest he is in real life, it totally reflects his work and aesthetic of photography. he has amazing little stories about vivienne westwood, victoria beckham and many other of his most reknowned pieces of work too. he is very humble and constantly inspired by new things, he has ideas working around in his brain for future work - some of which he is scared of... (another thing i think is hilarious - the bold and daring quality to his work is something he is famed for!)
his way of working struck me as quite child-like, rarely planning his shoots very well and kind of working on a whim and hoping everything goes to plan, he asks his subjects honest and open questions when photographing them and doesn't give too much a crap in regards to critics - in fact collects and publishes his bad press along side his photos in books.
