statement pieces

a selection from topshop, miss selfridge and river island.

at the minute literally all i want to do it focus on buying statement bold pieces, be it a pattern, texture or colour to combine with a minimal outfit. letting one piece do the talking. i wish i could afford the blue velvet chelsea boots from topshop, but sadly £85 is way out of my budget.  there's something a little bit 'noel fielding' about them, but if i could they'd be mine in a heartbeat!

however, if i see the oxblood fur lined boots in a river island near me, i may have to push the boat out and purchase. they are, after all, half the price of dr. marten boots and winter is approaching. sorry, just casually justifying this imminent spend to you, as well as myself.

exhibition | tim burton's 'the art of frankenweenie' at the bfi

this experience was the best, seriously. my university got us free tickets to the tim burton 'the art of frankenweenie' exhibition AND a masterclass with mark waring, who's also animated on corspe bride and fantastic mr. fox!

we got to see the actual sets used to film the stop movie feature film, tim's original sketches and moodboards, various puppets, models and structures of each character, a 3D screening of the film, our own photo with the classroom scene and loads more animator knowledge.

then we had a masterclass with mark waring who talked us through his role on the film, as well as how he got to where he is today, cool little facts and figures about the animation world, what tim burton is like to work with and other frankenweenie tricks and snippets.

then we were allowed up close and personal with the models and puppets of 'victor' and 'sparky'. what amazed me was how they get the expressions on the characters faces!! there are tiny little holes in the ops of their heads and in their ears, which when you push a little pin into them and twist certain ways it moves either their eyebrows, cheeks and mouth to get expression on their faces - so cool!
