film 02

01. the hunger games

having not read the series of books before i watched the film i thought i might not understand the narrative fully. however, i thought the film was directed beautifully and realistically. naturally, i thought the story line was amazing - they usually are when they're derived from book adaptations! i'm so excited to read the books now, to fill in any gaps or missing sections of the hunger games story.

02. man on a ledge

was a film that really surprised me. being based predominantly around 'the ledge' on which sam worthington stood could have potentially been really static and a little boring. but the film kept up huge momentum and suspense throughout. figuring out the plot makes you think and keeps you interested.

03. cherrybomb

basically i was intrigued to see this film, due to the cast. the three leads being robert sheehan, rupert grint and kimberley nixon. the film was a little bit slow, but i thought the acting was really strong - god knows how rupert kept up that thick irish accent throughout the whole filming! i loved the ending, no spoilers i promise.

04. youth in revolt

michael cera seems to play the same persona in a lot of his movies, however - one thing different was 'francois dillinger', an alter ego to this particular character, nick twisp. it was funny, tongue in cheek and features some famous and funny faces throughout, steve buscemi, zack galifianakis and justin long to name a few.

05. blue velvet

directed by david lynch is a film i watched for university research. not a film i 'd choose to watch and not a film to everyone's taste but i do admire the courage the actors and lynch has to create this. the director of photography, frederick elmes did a beautiful job in the cinematography aspect of the film. i enjoyed the small and subtle changes in the beginning and ending montages. some scenes were a little disturbing, frank is a very strange sociopathic man..

these posts contain a list and short bio of 5 films that i've most recently viewed. they include films that have been on my 'to watch' list for years, have been recommended to me, have been recently released or are on the list of films for my university project! i try not to include spoilers in my descriptions - just a brief synopsis, the genre and my general opinion.
