my birthday road trip to alton towers and manchester

myself, charlotte, bethany, abby, dan and james celebrated my 19th birthday with a two day road trip to alton towers and manchester. i absolutely loved every minute of the whole trip and i'm so lucky to have friends who love to enjoy it with me.

it all started at about 5am on the morning of my birthday, abby picked me up from my house - charlotte and bethany in tow and gave me a big box of presents, then we headed for alton towers! we stopped off in services to meet up with dan and james in the second car, for a huge mcdonalds breakfast and a game of frogger across the motorway bridge. then powered on down to staffordshire, along the M1 and then some very narrow country lanes, frank turner blasting on abby's road trip mix CD.

we arrived, parked and changed in the car.. then got our rickets then headed straight for the big coasters.. oblivion, nemisis, th13rteen, air - the lot. we wandered the sea life aquarium and ate ice cream waffles. dan and james battled on the inflatable podium and we had a photo with sonic the hedgehog. after we were well and truly rollercoastered out we got back in the car and drove to manchester.

we had a tour of abby's hugeeee 10 bedroom student house in fallowfield then began the pre-drinks in her room that we bought in sainsbury's! we tipsily got ready after a few rounds of birthday shots and went to 5th avenue in manchester. we danced like maniacs and drank disgusting shots called jaffa cakes for the majority of the night - the DJ was amazing, playing tune and tune.

we walked back to abby's old student flats by mistake which was pretty hilarious and then went for food before calling a taxi home. after being up for more than 24 hours, at about 5am my head hit abby's pillow and i went out like a light.

in the morning we all sat on abby's bed - discuss hazy antics and looking at hilarious photos from the night before, we got kind of 'ready' and slowly but surely.. made out way to the nearest wetherspoons. searching for hangover cures, still remembering parts of last night.

after spoons we walked back to the house and packed up the car to come home, and after a mini cheddar fight - me and charlotte fell asleep on eachother in the back of the car, listening to ben howard. i woke up about 30 minutes from home and we ate birthday cake for the last leg of the journey. i was met by my mam at the front door with hugs and birthday presents i had accumulated at home whilst i was on my road trip. i truly couldn't have asked for a better few days.

perfect.
